WISCONSIN CLUB OF LAKE SUMTER
Minutes - 9-20-10 Meeting
In the absence of President Mike Feeney, Treasurer Gary Gerke
called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. in Colony Cottage Recreation Center and led the Pledge of Allegiance. He then welcomed
all new members and guests. He explained how we now can now recognize our new members by noting they are each wearing leis
around their necks, which will help us in getting to know them and make them feel welcome.
Due to the absence of
Secretary Mary Viegut, Helen Feeney read the minutes of the May 17, 2010 meeting. The minutes were then unanimously approved.
Treasurer Gary Gerke gave the treasurer's report, stating income and expenses allowing us a balance of $4,747.20 before
the meeting started.
Getting to New Business, Treasurer Gary Gerke informed the members the October Fest 2010 will
be held at Colony Cottage Recreation Center due to the cost of last year's October Fest at the Polo Grounds increasing
2.5 times. He mentioned there will be outdoor activities starting at 4:00 p.m. and dinner at 5:00 p.m. He informed all of
entertainment being provided by Petrina, a very popular entertainer in The Villages. He encouraged all to purchase their tickets
before they leave the meeting.
Treasurer Gerke told the members attending about having a Friday Night Fish Fry
on Monday Night, November 15, 2010 and to purchase tickets for it as soon as possible so as not to be left out. Hacienda Catering
will fry the fish on site and will serve all the proper accompaniments. This event will be for members only, and will include
a short business meeting.
Treasurer Gerke also alerted all to the annual Christmas/Holiday Party to be held at
Sea Breeze Recreation Center hosted by the On Wisconsin chapter. It will take place December 20, 2010.
Elections
of officers of the WI Club of Lake Sumter will take place in March and Treasurer Gary Gerke indicated that we need to form
a nominating committee A.S.A.P. and a chairman of said committee very soon. We need a new board and the new, fresh, blood
that comes with it. Please put on your thinking caps and nominate someone you think will be a good candidate, join the committee,
or nominate yourself by February 1, 2011.
Gary also noted we need to form a committee for the Spring Picnic to
be held the 3rd Monday in April. Sign-up sheets will be available at the next meeting, or call Pres. Mike Feeney.
Member Hal Bauman spoke to the attendees about joining the Villages Square Dance club. He mentioned the times and days of
the month and let them know just how much fun it really is.
Treasurer Gerke called for a motion to adjourn at 7:25
p.m., which was made and seconded, after which, Helen Feeney and Jeannie Ticsay dispensed the winnings of the 50/50 drawing
to four lucky members--$20.00 to each!
The entertainment was provided by Golf Brooks.
